Paulsen Road Cleanup

April 23, 2026

Paulsen is a Problem! There has been continuous dumping along this rural, ag-land County road for years. We need to step up as a community and change this behavior. Pitch In working with Community Development and Infrastructure and our Supervisors have increased fines for illegal dumping from $100.00 to $ 2,500.00, $ 5,000.00 and $10,000.00. Pitch In has partnered with the County on cameras to deter illegal dumping and seek prosecution. We are furthering education on the fact that mattresses are free to dispose of, and bulky items can be picked up on premises several times a year at no cost. Help us spread the word and end the behavior of littering and illegal dumping. Help Pitch In make Santa Cruz the Cleanest County in the State.

On April 26th Pajaro Valley Fire and numerous volunteers did an outstanding job picking up litter along Paulsen Road. Thank you to Chief of Staff Ramon Gomez, Supervisor Hernandez’s office, Pajaro Valley Fire Department, its Board of Directors, Carol and Dave Martone and numerous volunteers who participated.
