Salsipuedes Creek Levee Cleanup

August 24, 2023

On August 24th, under the early morning overcast, volunteers gathered on the levee of Salsipuedes Creek in Watsonville, for another south county cleanup.

A special thank you to Celeste Gutierrez and Ramon Gomez of 4th District Supervisor Felipe Hernandez’s office who organized this event.

Participants of the Trash Talkers Coalition, including Christine and Bob Lyons representing of Watsonville Wetlands Watch, community member Karen Osmundson, Sergeant Nick Solano of Santa Cruz County Sheriffs, staff from the Santa Cruz County Department of Community Development and Infrastructure, and team members of Watsonville Works, used pickers donated by Cal Trans’ Clean California Department to clean up litter and debris.

The levee is used regularly by community members as a walking trail and offers shelter and habitat to birds and other wildlife.  It is in everyone’s interest to keep this area clean and safe.
