Spring is emerging.  The Pajaro Valley is green from the recent rains, a flash of yellow flowers cover the fields, and birds are starting to nest. The negative impact of litter on our fragile environment continues to take its toll. The Pitch In Initiative is a County-wide effort to eliminate litter and illegal dumping by working in collaboration with agencies and community members. Organized Cleanups are scheduled monthly in South county.  Please join in!

Volunteers from Supervisor Hernandez’s Office, Speaker Robert Riva’s office, Santa Cruz County Department of Community Development and Infrastructure, The Santa Cruz County Sheriffs, Watsonville Wetlands Watch, and Community members joined together to clean up Minto Road and Lake View.

The result of this effort was two truckloads of refuse. This is costing time and resources.  Let’s end the behavior of littering!
