On Saturday, March 29th Watsonville Wetlands Watch, Santa Cruz County Parks, 4th District Supervisor Hernandez, and Pitch-In Santa Cruz County hosted a tree planting and park beautification event at Mesa Village County Park – 790 Gren Valley Rd. 40 Volunteers planted 10 shade trees which provide the benefits of clean air, carbon sequestration, water infiltration, and noise reduction to neighborhood residents. A Native Plant pollinator hedgerow was also planted. The project is a part of the Watsonville Community Forest Project, led by Watsonville Wetlands Watch and many partners who are working to plant thousands of trees to increase tree canopy.
