  • Location: Santa Cruz River Walk (San Lorenzo River)
  • Join us for our River Health Day and plant and maintain native seedlings along the banks of the San Lorenzo River to increase biodiversity and revitalize the river ecosystem. Sometimes we will meet near Mike Fox Skate Park. Free parking is available in the CWC parking lot at 107 Dakota Ave. Paid parking is also available on Dakota Avenue or across the river in downtown Santa Cruz. The closest parking garage is at 601 Front Street.
  • It is recommended that all volunteers dress in comfortable gardening clothes, including long pants, socks and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Bring layers, sun protection and a reusable water bottle. Gloves, tools and light refreshments will be provided (RSVP).
  • All ages and abilities welcome. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Cleanup: Along Cement Plant Road and around Old Town.

  • Locations: Pacific Ave and the Levy
  • Both sites, Downtown and Levee, will meet at 8am at the alley (Commerce Lane) directly behind Walnut Street Café. There will be bags, pickers, buckets, and safety gear located at the launch point. They are set to end at 12PM.
    The Downtown crew will work their way around the general downtown region (primarily looping around Pacific and Front)
    The Levee crew will make their way towards river street and cover the perimeter of the Levee region, bound by Water Street and Broadway Avenue.

Pajaro Levee

  • We will have a tent, tables and all the equipment for the cleanup. A group will go South, and another group will go North of the Levee Path.

  • At the entrance to the park, at the kiosk, we will have a Park Host to direct people where to go to meet another Park Host who will have gloves, buckets, trash bags, grabbers, a trail map, and a waiver for all to sign.

  • Volunteers should check in at the table set up there and sign the waiver for the city and then will be given assignments.
  • We will finish the volunteer work at noon. Volunteers will be cleaning and beautifying the park through trash pick up, raking, weeding and other activities given to us by SC Parks and Rec department.
